Why convert WAV to MP3?

Uncompressed PCM WAV files can be large. MP3 usually takes much less space, making sharing and portable playback easier. MP3 is lossy, however, and is not a good replacement for an original master recording.

Does every WAV file work?

WAV is a container and can contain several codecs. Common uncompressed PCM WAV files should work; some uncommon or damaged WAV files may fail. If a file fails, check its encoding in the Audio Inspector.
