MP4 to MP3 Converter

Extract audio from a local video and save it as MP3. All media processing happens in your browser — the video is not uploaded.

Drag and drop also works on desktop. 80 MiB maximum for this beta.

Increasing bitrate does not restore quality lost in the original audio.

How to convert an MP4 to MP3

  1. Select a video file that you have permission to process.
  2. Choose an MP3 bitrate (192 kbps is a good starting point).
  3. Click Convert to MP3. The first run needs to download a conversion engine of approximately 30 MB.
  4. Download the generated MP3 when it is ready.

Privacy and compatibility

Your selected media stays on your device. FFmpeg WebAssembly loads from a third-party CDN on first use; this can disclose basic connection information to the CDN, but does not upload your video.

Processing can be slow, especially on phones. The progress indicator is approximate. Files without audio, damaged videos or unsupported codecs may fail. A modern browser with JavaScript and enough available memory is required.

Does this download YouTube videos?

No. This converter only processes local files you select, not YouTube links or other streaming URLs.

Should I use 320 kbps?

Higher output bitrate uses more space but cannot improve the quality of an already compressed source. Choose a bitrate that suits your file size and playback needs.
