Some Walkman models may not properly show metadata written using certain ID3 versions. Sony's support materials mention converting some ID3v2.4 tags to ID3v2.3 as one possible fix. Sony Japan support.
1. Make a backup
Keep a copy of the original before editing tags or artwork.
2. Inspect the file
Use the Audio Inspector to identify the format and the ID3 tag version, if available.
3. Check your exact device
Compatibility depends on model, firmware, file type and transfer workflow. ID3v2.4 detection does not establish the cause of a display issue.
4. Test a reversible fix
If the official instructions apply to your device, try converting the tags on a separate copy and transfer the revised file to the player. This site does not yet rewrite tags.
